How do I open an account?

You can apply for an account online by visiting this link. If you prefer an offline application, visit this page.

What is the account minimum?

Our current account minimum is $30,000.

What account types does CenterPoint offer?

CenterPoint offers individual, joint, and corporate accounts.

Do you accept foreign accounts?

We accept most foreign accounts. Please contact us for details.

How much leverage is offered to clients?

Clients have access to 4:1 intraday leverage and 2:1 overnight leverage.

Does CenterPoint offer short selling locate services?

Yes, CenterPoint is known for having robust locate resources.

What clearing firms does CenterPoint work with?

CenterPoint currently offers clearing through Wedbush, ETC, and Clear Street.

What are the main differences between clearing firms?

Each clearing firm has subtle differences that may offer benefits to different types of traders. Clients have the option to open with more than one clearing firm. If you have any questions about a specific firm, please contact us.

Which commission plan is best for me?

Most clients prefer our per-share commission plan, however, clients who trade an average lot size of 3,000-5,000 shares may benefit from the per-ticket plan.

Can I trade options at CenterPoint?

Yes, CenterPoint offers competitive pricing on options.

Can I trade futures at CenterPoint?

Not at the moment – please contact us directly if this is a feature you’d like to see in the future.

Can I trade forex at CenterPoint?

Not at the moment – please contact us directly if this is a feature you’d like to see in the future.

Is my trading account insured?

Yes. The Securities Investor Protection Corporation (SIPC) is a nonprofit organization that protects stocks, bonds, and other securities in case a brokerage firm goes bankrupt and assets are missing.
The SIPC will cover up to $500,000 in securities, including a $250,000 limit for cash held in a brokerage account.

How do I fund my account?

After your account is approved, you will receive an email with funding instructions that are specific to your account.

How do I access my account?

After your new account is open, you will receive an email with a link and login information to access your back office.  Here you will monitor all account activity including trading activity, cash movements, account statements, trading confirms, etc.

How do I choose set up my platform subscription?

Contact the trading desk after funding your account and you will be provided with login credentials and a platform download link.

Which trading platform should I choose?

Every trader has their own preferences and all of our platforms are state of the art, however the majority of our clients select the DAS Trader platform.

How do I add data streams to my platform?

You will have the option to add data streams when you receive your platform login information. You may email our support desk to add and remove data streams.

Can I get my platform fee waived?

Yes – clients who maintain a certain level of trading activity will have their platform fees waived. Please visit our pricing page for details.

How do I see my trade history?

Login to the back office to access your trade history. Upon request, we also offer a “Prop Reports” login for additional trade history information.

How do I secure locates?

When you receive your trading platform a separate FAQ will be provided to explain the locate process. Reach out now if you’d like to obtain this information sooner.

What is my buying power?

You will have access to 4:1 buying power intraday and 2:1 buying power overnight.

How do I withdraw money from my account?

You can set up an ACH relationship or submit a wire request to withdraw funds. Click here to access the forms.

Can I change commission plans?

Yes. If you find that a different commission plan will benefit your trading please reach out to our support desk to make a change. We generally make these adjustments at the start of a new month.

Can I change clearing firms?

Yes. Many clients find it beneficial to have multiple accounts with CenterPoint to take full advantage of what our clearing firms can offer. If you’d like to switch clearing firms or open a new account with a different clearing firm, please contact our support team.
